U10 and U16 Practices Moved To Tomorrow

Due to the thunderstorms expected late this afternoon, we are moving today’s U10 and U16 practices to tomorrow May 16th.

U10 practice will be from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM on the East Side Knoll.
U16 practice will be from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM on the West Side Knoll.

This week’s practice schedule for the U14s and the U16 is as follows:

Wednesday from 3:45 PM to 5:15 PM on the West Side Knoll
Thursday from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM on the West Side Knoll
Boys U16
Wednesday from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM on the West Side Knoll
Thursday from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM on the West Side Knoll

Mother’s Day Sweep

It was a Happy Mother’s Day for the four Melrose United teams in action yesterday.  All four teams with Mother’s Day games were able to pull out victories.

The Boys U12s started the day off with a 4 – 2 win over DFC on the East Side Knoll and moved to 5-0-0 on the season.  The U12s will play for the Club North section title at next week’s game vs. FSC North.

The Boys U19s kept the momentum going with a 3 – 0 win over Nor’easter FC on the West Side Knoll to keep their undefeated season going.  They moved to 5-0-1 for the spring and can capture the U19 Premier Division title with a win vs. Sudbury Academy in their final game.

A solid 2 – 1 win over Mutiny FC by the Boys U16s closed out the action on the West Side Knoll.  The U16s improved to 2-3-0 on the season with their second consecutive victory after three one goal losses to open the season.  With two games still remaining the U16 are looking to continue their strong play and move up the U16 Premier Division table.

The Boys U14s finished out United’s first sweep and second consecutive undefeated week of the season with a 1 – 0 away win over Strikers United.  The U14s moved to 3-1-0 on the season.  With three games remaining, they are still in the mix for the U14 Club Division title.

First Undefeated Weekend Of The Season

Melrose United completed their first undefeated weekend of the spring with four wins and a draw on May 6th.

The Boys U12s kicked things off at 10:15 AM with an exciting 3 – 2 home win over FSC North.

At 1:00 PM the Boys U16s started the action on West Side Knoll with a 2 – 0 victory over Explosion FC while the Girls U18 team captured their first win of the season with a big 3 – 0 win over St. Michaels Youth at Tabor Academy.

At 2:45 PM on the West Side Knoll the the Boys U19s drew 2 – 2 with JSSA in a hard fought back and forth contest. To close out a great day for Melrose United the Boys U14 squad posted our third clean sheet of the day with a 1 – 0 home win over Nor’easter FC.

Mass Youth Soccer – District Select Program

The District Select Program brings together boys and girls from across Massachusetts to compete in a series of weekly games in July and early August and culminates with the annual District Select Tournament.  All games are played at Mass Youth Soccer Fields at in Lancaster, MA.  Players in the U14 age group and younger have their games on Saturdays while U15 and older players compete on Sundays.
Melrose belongs to District 5 which encompasses 42 cities and towns stretching from East Boston to Amesbury.  You can find more information about the District Select Program here.

Melrose is part of District 5 and tryouts for this programs begin this weekend.
