Congratulations to the Melrose United U12 Mass Cup tournament team for winning this weekend’s Mass Cup Championship. The team consisted of players from our U11 and U12 MAPLE teams and compiled a 5-0-0 record on their way to the title.
The Melrose United U12 and U14 Mass Cup tournament teams both advanced to Sunday’s semi-final round on Frasca Fields in Tewksbury.
The U12 qualified for the playoffs with a perfect 3-0-0 record in group play. The U12 defeafted Andover Dynomite, Andover Blast and Tewksbury on their way to Sunday’s semi-final. They will face Somerville at 8:30 AM on Sunday in one semi-final while Lynn will take on Tewksbury in the other U12 semi-final game. The winners will play for the championship at 11:00 AM
The U14s also make the knockout rounds with a 2-1-0 performance in group play. After two opening victories versus Taunton and Wakefield, the U14s fell to Medford in an exciting game to decide the group winner. They will take on Tewksbury in one semi-final at 8:00 AM while Medford will face Everett in the second semi-final. The winners will play for the championship at 10:30 AM

The City of Melrose has closed the East Side and West Side Knoll fields this afternoon, therefore U11, U12, U13 and U15 practices are canceled. Practices will resume on Thursday at their regularly scheduled times.

The coaching staff will be evaluating each player’s technical and tactical skills via drills and scrimmages to ensure we are properly placed for the Fall MAPLE Season. All tryouts will be held at the Knoll.
